01 / Site potential

Site factors for a data centre in Central Hesse.

Existing infrastructure and new development options form the framework for a possible data centre project at GP Campus Herborn-Burg. Solar park connection and fibre connectivity are in place; their design is tailored to the specific project.

Grid connection

Grid connection in place, capacity project-dependent

On site today
The business park is connected to the power grid and supplies the let existing buildings.
Project-dependent
Connection capacity and expansion options for a data centre are clarified with the grid operator on a project basis.
Solar park

Directly connected to the solar park.

On site today
GP Campus is supplied with green energy by the existing solar park. Local electricity generation is a concrete building block for the energy supply on site. Around 6 million kWh of electricity produced in 2025.
Project-dependent
The supply concept for a future data centre will be tailored to its power requirements and operational needs.
Fibre

Fibre connectivity in place.

On site today
GP Campus has an existing fibre connection. A key piece of infrastructure for developing a data centre is therefore already available on site.
Project-dependent
Bandwidth, redundancy and possible additional connections will be tailored to the operator's requirements.
Waste heat

Adjacent commercial space as potential consumers

On site today
The let industrial and commercial buildings of the business park directly adjoin the development area.
Project-dependent
Whether and how waste heat can be used there depends on the project, the consumers and the technical implementation.
